Terms and Conditions

By submitting content to Oriema.ng, the reporter (“Contributor”) acknowledges and agrees to abide by these Terms and Conditions, which govern the submission, publication, and use of all contributed materials. Contributors must ensure that all submitted content, including but not limited to news reports, articles, interviews, images, and videos, is accurate, original, and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of any third party. Content must comply with applicable laws in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including but not limited to the Nigerian Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, and the Nigerian Press Council Act.

Contributors agree that all content submitted to Oriema.ng may be reviewed, edited, or declined at the sole discretion of the editorial team without prior notice. By submitting content, the Contributor grants Oriema.ng a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, distribute, and publicly display the material in any format, including digital, print, or broadcast, for editorial and promotional purposes. While attribution will be provided where appropriate, submission does not guarantee publication or continuous access.

Payment terms, where applicable, shall be explicitly communicated and agreed upon in writing prior to the submission of any commissioned work. Oriema.ng is not obligated to provide financial compensation for unsolicited content. All payments, where due, shall comply with relevant tax and labor laws in Nigeria. Contributors are responsible for providing accurate bank and tax identification details for the processing of any agreed compensation. Non-compliance with these requirements may delay or forfeit payment.

Contributors must avoid all conflicts of interest that may compromise the integrity of their reporting. Any relationship, financial or otherwise, with a person, group, or entity related to the subject matter of a report must be fully disclosed to Oriema.ng prior to submission. Failure to disclose such interests may result in disqualification of the content, termination of the contributor relationship, and legal consequences where applicable.

All contributors are expected to uphold the highest standards of journalistic ethics, in line with the Nigerian Code of Ethics for Journalists. This includes fairness, objectivity, balance, respect for privacy, and accountability. Sensationalism, plagiarism, and deliberate misinformation are strictly prohibited. Oriema.ng reserves the right to permanently remove or retract any content found to breach these ethical standards.

Contributors must not submit defamatory, false, misleading, or malicious content, nor content that incites violence, promotes discrimination, or violates the privacy or rights of any individual or organization. Any violation may result in termination of collaboration and, where applicable, legal action. Oriema.ng reserves the right to disclose contributor information to law enforcement agencies or regulatory bodies if required by law or in good faith to protect the rights and safety of individuals.

By continuing to submit content, the Contributor affirms they are of legal age, possess the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements under Nigerian law, and understand that they act as an independent party, not an employee or agent of Oriema.ng. These terms may be updated from time to time, and it is the Contributor's responsibility to review them periodically. Continued submission after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
